Brian is a native Floridian, born and raised in Miami. Brian graduated from the Pat Thomas Law Enforcement Academy in 1995, and accepted his first law enforcement position with the City of St. Petersburg Police Department in June of 1996. While with the St. Petersburg Police Department, Brian was a member of the Patrol Division, Community Policing Unit, and the Street Level Narcotics Unit. He also enjoyed teaching and earned some of his instructor and training certifications. In 2002, Brian accepted a position with the Tequesta Police Department so that he, his wife Debbie, and their two children could be closer to their families. While with the Tequesta Police Department, Brian was involved with the Marine Unit, Bicycle Unit, Field Training Unit, Criminal Investigations Division, Internal Affairs Unit, the Property and Evidence Unit and the department’s Training Division. He also expanded his training background to include becoming an adjunct instructor with the Indian River Criminal Justice Institute.
In addition to his background in training, Brian was also responsible for the newly created Crime Prevention Unit. Brian enjoyed this new endeavor and introduced several new programs to the community, both residential and commercial, including Neighborhood Watch and the Child Identification programs. Brian was recognized for his hard work in the area of Crime Prevention by receiving the State of Florida Attorney General's Office Crime Prevention Practitioner designation in 2003. Brian was also recognized by the Tequesta Police Department for his Crime Prevention efforts by receiving the Community Service Award in 2004 and 2005.
In March of 2006, Brian accepted a position with the Martin County Sheriff's Office. He was assigned to the Road Patrol Division until April of 2010, at which time he was selected as a member of the agency's Training Unit. Brian also continues to teach Firearms and Vehicle Operations at the Indian River Criminal Justice Institute. Brian has also continued to expand his teaching credentials to include TASER® Brand ECD Instructor, OCAT Instructor, and State of Florida Firearms Instructor. He has also taught in the civilian arena in areas such as security and firearms safety.
In addition to his law enforcement background, Brian earned his Associates in Business Management from Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois. He then received his Bachelors degree in Hospitality Administration from the Florida State University. Brian is currently working on his Masters degree in Public Administration/Criminal Justice.
