Description:
In-custody deaths are not an uncommon issue facing law enforcement, but adequate training on the topic is. We have all heard the stories about the person who “died” in police custody. Initially law enforcement is blamed for the death and then the medical authority cites the cause of death as being; cocaine psychosis, exhaustive mania, and more often now “Excited Delirium.” This condition is not new. In fact, it can be traced back to the mid 1800’s in the medical field. Unfortunately, the concept of in-custody deaths has been capitalized on by the media and little or no information is being provided to the first responders, civic groups, or the front line medical professionals.
Tactical Advantage Solutions, LLC is proud to present the Excited Delirium Instructor Certification Course to meet this imperative need. This course is designed to develop the trainer’s ability to deliver informative training on the issues surrounding in-custody deaths, most commonly referred to as “excited delirium.” This course goes well beyond the myths of in-custody deaths. We have developed programs that are instruction ready, so the certified instructors may return to their respective organizations and begin training on this issue immediately. Programs are designed for civilian, fire-rescue, and law enforcement applications. Upon successful completion of this training, the participant will be certified to teach the basic 2 to 4 hour program, depending on the target audience. All required training materials are provided to the newly certified instructor. These materials include: Participant handouts, PowerPoint presentations, lesson plans, and all examinations. With the exception of including your organization's policy and procedures or force continuum, all of the course development has been completed and is given to the new instructor.
